Daniel Pullen

Daniel Pullen is the founder of Atlantic Health and Safety, where he helps mining operations stay safe, compliant, and free from costly citations. With more than 26 years of experience as an MSHA Inspector, Daniel saw firsthand how challenging it was for mine operators to understand and keep up with regulations. He started Atlantic Health and Safety to bridge that gap — offering practical solutions that make compliance clear and achievable.

During his career with MSHA, Daniel served as a Lead Accident Investigator, worked in Special Investigations, represented cases as a Conference and Litigation Representative, and conducted safety and health inspections. His deep knowledge of mining safety and regulations means he brings unmatched insight into how citations happen — and, more importantly, how to prevent them.

Daniel holds an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering. He is a Certified Mine Safety Professional (#582), a Certified Senior Technologist (#1391), and an ACGIH Voting Member, credentials that reinforce both his technical expertise and professional integrity.

Michael Powers

Michael Powers helps mining operations stay safe, compliant, and free from costly citations as a Mining Safety Specialist with Atlantic Health and Safety. With over two decades in the mining industry and 17 years as an MSHA Inspector, he understands just how challenging it can be for operators to keep up with evolving safety standards and complex regulations. That’s why he’s passionate about providing clear, practical solutions that make compliance easier — and help companies focus on what they do best.

During his career with MSHA, Michael led accident investigations, conducted safety and health inspections, and worked side-by-side with District Health Specialists to bring noise and silica exposure levels into compliance at dimension granite quarries and sand and gravel operations. His deep understanding of how accidents and violations happen — and how to prevent them — means he’s able to anticipate risks before they become problems and design strategies that keep crews protected and operations running smoothly.

Michael holds associate degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Occupational Development with a minor in Mine Inspection and is a certified MSHA Part 46 and Part 48 Underground Trainer. Beyond regulatory expertise, he brings more than 37 years of hands-on experience in welding and fabrication, plant design and repair, dust suppression system design and maintenance, and MSHA compliance.

Whether it’s improving safety programs, reducing exposure risks, or guiding teams through inspections, Michael is dedicated to helping operators build safer workplaces and stronger, more compliant operations.
